Welcome to St. John's Lodge No. 1, A.Y.M.

St. John's Lodge No.1 is the oldest operating Masonic Lodge under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of New York F&AM. Originally warranted in 1757 by the Modern Grand Lodge of England, we recently celebrated the 250th Anniversary of our founding.

Our Lodge maintains a strong and vibrant membership of all ages and walks of life, bound by a common tie of brotherhood and living our lives according to time-honored Masonic principles.

Our Masonic Lodge in NYC meets on the third Wednesday of each month between September and May of each year in the Ionic Room on the 6th floor of Masonic Hall in Manhattan.

With a strong emphasis on ritual excellence, Masonic education, spirituality and fraternity, St. John's Lodge No. 1 observes the traditional tenets of old-world Freemasonry in the context of 21st Century life.

John Ramage was an Irish American artist, goldsmith, patroller, and second lieutenant. He was best known for painting portrait miniatures. Ramage had joined St. John's Lodge No. 2 while living in New York. He is listed as having been admitted on the Returns to the Grand Lodge of New York in 1786, indicating he was already a Freemason and had received his degrees elsewhere.

Lt. Colonel Edward Antill

Edward Antill was an active and ardent Freemason. He most likely joined St. John's Lodge No. 2 at Fishkill while he was stationed there or in 1775. He is also referenced as a Past Master, although the year has never been identified. He was listed as a subscriber and a resident of the Province of New York who is a Right Worshipful and Deputy Grand Master of the Province of Quebec.

Ebenezer Foote

Ebenezer Foote was one of the original petitioners and first Master of Steuben Lodge No. 18, the first Masonic lodge in Orange County. He was a man of spotless integrity, unwearied diligence, and perseverance, and by his own intellectual powers and moral worth, he arose to an enviable distinction in society and has left many memorials of honorable fame as a legacy to his posterity.
